Topic: Driving Strategy Execution Using Big Data Analytics
Poor strategy execution has been one of the major challenges facing leadership teams and although Kaplan-Norton’s strategy map can articulate nicely the strategy and its sister, balanced scorecard (BSC), combines both the financial and nonfinancial KPIs to monitor the execution of the strategy, companies still struggle to identify reasons for low performance and understand correlations about causes and effects of the strategic assumptions. This is on one hand, while on the other, analytics has been deployed in many cases without tangible benefits to the organizations since it is disconnected from strategy. Our company, Intuitu Analytics, has developed a unique and integrated framework, based on some great practices and solutions from its strategic partners like IIA, BDI+, Metis, etc. to tackle the shortcomings of strategy development and execution. The proposed framework enables companies to go beyond the conventional wisdom of “you can’t manage what you don’t measure”, and predict with a high precision why the strategy is not working as planned or whether it’s actually the right strategy. Case studies will be presented to illustrate how the concept works in practice along a new approach that show how utility companies will benefit from analytics.
